Following completion of a BA majoring in Political Science at the University of Otago, Sam finished his LLB (Hons) at the University of Canterbury in 2017. Sam later relocated to Nelson, where he developed extensive experience in property, commercial, and corporate law. In 2023, he moved to London to work for the Government Legal Department, providing advice on a diverse range of commercial legal matters, including competition, procurement, and subsidy law. Returning to his hometown of Christchurch, Sam joined Godfreys in 2026 as a member of our Conveyancing and Commercial teams.
Sam is a focused lawyer whose primary motivation is getting the transaction completed in a manner which best promotes his client’s interests. He advises on all aspects of commercial and property law, including land and business transactions. Sam is responsive and always endeavouring to distil complex legal issues in a manner that his clients can understand and act on.
When not in his office, Sam trains Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and tries to keep fit at the gym. He loves a good book and does his best make time for films and family.
