We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Kate Montu to Associate at Godfreys Law!
Kate began her journey with Godfreys Law in February 2022 as a Law Clerk. After graduating from the University of Canterbury with a double degree in Law and Criminal Justice, she was admitted to the bar and progressing quickly through the roles of Solicitor and Senior Solicitor. In just three years, her dedication, drive, and commitment to excellence have seen her rise through the firm - a true reflection of her strong work ethic.
Initially specialising in conveyancing, Kate has since expanded her expertise to include litigation, traffic offences, debt collection, and relationship property, where she has developed extensive knowledge and a practical, client-focused approach.
Reflecting on her journey, Kate credits the encouragement and mentorship within the firm for helping her grow quickly and achieve her professional goals:

Outside the office, Kate’s energy continues on the netball court, where she plays for Marist Albion Netball Club and serves as Senior Club Captain on the committee. When she’s not in court or on the court, she enjoys exploring Christchurch’s scenic spots, spending time with friends, and discovering the best local food and drink the city has to offer.
