We’re thrilled to celebrate a fantastic milestone for one of our team members—Selena has officially become a Solicitor!
Selena’s journey into law began with curiosity and a bit of serendipity. Initially drawn to science and considering a career in Pharmacy, she took advantage of the Fees Free first-year programme to explore law—and quickly found a passion.
Her university experience was shaped by structure, independence, and strong friendships. Selena enjoyed the rhythm of academic life, especially the camaraderie of studying and sitting exams alongside her friends. She approached her studies with independence and focus, often using a timer to stay on track—an approach that has transitioned seamlessly into her legal practice, where time recording is a daily discipline.
The shift from full-time study to full-time work has been smooth for Selena, though she notes that studying law is quite different from practising it. Every day brings new learning opportunities, and she’s embraced the challenge of gaining practical experience on the job. She’s found that while university laid the foundation, the real-world application of law is new and exciting.
Selena’s advice to those studying law? Enjoy it. The journey is different for everyone, but creating structure with studying, and allowing time for friends and family, will make it a fun experience. Selena acknowledges the great support she has received from her parents. Alongside her friends, they have been a wonderful supportive base.
